Terms of use

Version: 7 September 2026

Linux diagnostics

In addition to Windows, the service includes a separate Linux diagnostic path. End users may run the generated Bash script only on systems they are authorised to examine. The script must not be started as root or with sudo. The selected checks and targets determine the scope of diagnostic data transferred.

Scope

These Terms of Use apply to the use of admin-tools by customers and end users. Conflicting customer terms apply only if the provider has expressly agreed to them in text form.

Definitions

Provider means Andre Melsbach, Hasenhof 7A, 24963 Tarp, Germany. Customer means the natural or legal person using the service or maintaining an account for its organisation. End user means a person who runs an admin-tools diagnostic tool on a supported Windows or Linux system. Service means the web application, including diagnostic tool generation, upload and evaluation. Diagnosis means a query of selected system, network or Wi-Fi data started by an end user. Diagnostic data means the resulting log, structured values derived from it and related technical metadata. Diagnostic tool means, depending on the operating system, a Windows batch file or Linux Bash script that runs selected commands and stores or transfers the log.

Subject of the service

admin-tools allows users to select checks and targets, generate a suitable Windows or Linux diagnostic tool, submit a log manually or automatically, and display the received data in a structured form. The service does not replace an individual IT security review, troubleshooting or professional advice.

Registration and account

Some functions require an account with a username, email address and password. The email address must be verified. Credentials must be kept confidential. The customer must promptly inform the provider if unauthorised access is suspected.

Permitted use

The service may be used to technically examine supported Windows and Linux systems, networks and Wi-Fi environments and to evaluate the resulting data. Use must comply with applicable law, these terms and the rights of affected persons.

Customer responsibility for authorisation

The customer may initiate or support a diagnosis only on systems they are authorised to examine or for which they have the relevant consent or instruction from the authorised party. The customer is responsible for informing end users appropriately before execution and obtaining any required consents, instructions and internal approvals.

Use of generated diagnostic tools

The generated Windows or Linux diagnostic tool runs the checks and targets selected when it was created within the intended technical process. It contains technical process elements such as token handling, a temporary log file, and status and error handling. The relevant tool should be reviewed before distribution and execution. Automatic submission uses HTTPS; if the upload fails, the log may remain local.

Internal use and IT services

The use and distribution of a generated Windows or Linux diagnostic tool within the customer’s own organisation or as part of authorised IT services is permitted where the required authorisation for the diagnosis exists. Recipients must be informed about its purpose, the checks performed and any possible transfer of the log; required data protection agreements remain a prerequisite.

Prohibited use

In particular, users must not use the service without the required authorisation, bypass access or protection mechanisms, submit unlawful or harmful content, monitor persons without a legal basis, misuse credentials, or impair the service or third-party systems.

Protection against misuse or automated use

The provider may use technical limits, tokens, expiry times, upload limits and blocks to protect the service. A batch file must not be used to impair the service through mass, uncontrolled or automated requests. Existing protective measures do not guarantee that every misuse will be prevented or detected.

Technical limits and availability

Results depend on the Windows version, language, code page, installed components, permissions, network environment and selected configuration. Individual commands may produce incomplete or unparseable results. The provider aims to operate the service reliably but does not promise uninterrupted availability or error-free evaluation.

Storage and deletion of diagnostic data

Diagnostic data is stored after receipt and may exist as a raw log and in structured tables. Uploadeded demo diagnostic data has a retention period of 7 days from upload; deletion takes place during the next server-side cleanup run after expiry. The public example result uses static, fictitious sample data and is not subject to this upload deletion period. Registered customers can set retention in their profile within the range shown there; the application currently uses 90 days by default and allows up to 300 days. Individual results can also be deleted manually. Details are set out in the Privacy Policy.

Intellectual property

The web application, its design, source code, database structure and provided texts remain, to the extent permitted by law, the intellectual property of the provider or its licensors. The customer’s statutory rights in their own content and diagnostic data remain unaffected.

Rights to use generated batch files

The customer receives a simple, non-exclusive right to store and run the generated batch file for its intended diagnostic purpose within their own organisation and as part of authorised IT services for clients, and to distribute it under these terms. Paid IT support services for authorised clients are also permitted. Without an additional express agreement, resale or sublicensing of the software or service access and provision as a standalone competing service are not permitted. Removal of the token or modifications intended to bypass protective measures are not permitted.

Liability

The provider is liable in accordance with statutory law. Liability for intent, gross negligence, damage to life, body or health, and mandatory statutory liability, in particular under product liability law, remains unaffected. In the event of a slightly negligent breach of essential contractual duties, the provider is liable only for the foreseeable damage typically occurring. Otherwise, liability for slightly negligent breaches is excluded to the extent legally permissible. The customer remains responsible for authorising the diagnosis, selecting checks and using the results.

Data protection

The processing of personal data is governed by the Privacy Policy. When distributing and running the batch file, the customer must comply with their own data protection obligations towards end users and other affected persons.

Data processing agreement

If the provider processes diagnostic data on behalf of the customer and the requirements for a processor relationship are met, an appropriate agreement under Article 28 GDPR is required before the relevant processing begins. The intended information and data processing agreement are provided on the Data processing agreement page. The customer may use the service for such processing only after the required contractual and organisational conditions have been clarified.

Suspension and termination

The customer may initiate termination of their user account using the account deletion function in their profile. As a safeguard, a time-limited confirmation link is sent to the registered email address. Only explicit final confirmation on the linked page triggers permanent deletion. Upon successful completion, the account and its assigned diagnostic data, including stored diagnostic files and associated database data, are deleted within the application. Restoration of the deleted account within the application is not provided. Deletion does not cover copies on users’ devices, previously sent emails, technical server or mail logs, or existing hosting backups. Statutory obligations, including any applicable retention obligations, remain unaffected. Requests concerning account termination or data deletion may also be directed to the provider. The provider may temporarily suspend access in the event of a material breach of these terms, security risks or to protect the service. Mandatory statutory rights to terminate or suspend remain unaffected.

Changes to the service

The provider may develop, modify or discontinue functions, technical processes and supported checks where objectively justified. Changes will be implemented taking customers’ legitimate interests into account. Technical compatibility with already generated batch files cannot be guaranteed after changes.

Changes to these terms

The provider may amend these terms for the future where necessary to reflect changes in law, new technical processes or changes to the service. Material changes will be communicated to the customer in an appropriate manner. Where renewed consent is required, continued use may depend on providing it.

Final provisions

The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods, unless mandatory consumer protection provisions provide otherwise. Statutory venues apply to consumers. If individual provisions are or become invalid, the remaining provisions remain unaffected; the statutory provision replaces the invalid provision.
